XMate is a Chrome extension that helps you remember the people you engage with on X and LinkedIn — save a profile in one click, automatically log your interactions as touchpoints, and get nudged to follow up before a relationship goes cold. All your data stays on your device.
This guide covers three things: installing the extension, understanding how XMate captures touchpoints from X, and the everyday actions to nurture your contacts. It takes about 5 minutes to get started.
Install the extension
XMate is a free extension on the Chrome Web Store. It installs in one click — works on Chrome and Chromium browsers (Edge, Brave, Arc, and more).

Open the Chrome Web Store
Go to the XMate listing and click Add to Chrome.

Confirm the install
Chrome shows a quick confirmation — click Add extension. XMate installs in a second. No account, no sign-up, no email.

Pin it
Click the (Extensions) icon in the toolbar, then click the pin next to XMate to keep it visible for quick access.

You're ready
Open
x.comand visit any profile — XMate's drawer appears alongside it. Next up: save your first contact.
Save your first contact
Everything starts by saving someone to your notebook. XMate only saves when you choose to — it never scans in the background.

Open a profile on X
Go to
x.comand open anyone's profile (say, a founder, investor, or creator you want to keep track of). -
Open the XMate drawer
XMate adds a compact drawer alongside the profile page. Open it to see a quick summary of this person.

Click the star to save
Click the star to save this person to your notebook. XMate grabs their username, display name, and avatar — only from the page you're viewing, never in bulk.

Add notes & tags
Write a private note (where you met, what you're discussing) and add tags like
#investor,#customer,#community,#followup.
Capture touchpoints on X
This is XMate's standout feature. Every time you interact with someone on X, XMate logs it as a "touchpoint" — so you always remember who you've connected with, and how often.
How it works
As you browse X normally, XMate only records your own interactions — it never captures people you merely scroll past, and never tracks anyone else's behavior. It observes exactly what you're already doing on screen, then attributes it to the right contact.

When enabled, XMate also shows contextual badges next to posts in your feed — so you can instantly gauge the strength of a relationship without leaving X:
Daily actions to nurture contacts
XMate doesn't just store people — it helps you actively tend your relationships. Here are the main actions you'll use every day.
Popup — your momentum for the day
Click the XMate icon in the toolbar to open the momentum popup: total contacts, how many are Active, how many have gone Stale, and how many Reminders are due today. It adds a short insight so you know what to do next.
Daily Pulse
The default view of the Contacts page: who needs a follow-up today, new contacts, and people going cold.
List
Every contact, with a sidebar and detail panel. Full-text search across notes, tags, and info — all runs locally.
Board & Pipeline
See contacts by relationship stage in a kanban/pipeline layout — drag and drop to update follow-up status.
Reminders
Set a nudge like "follow up with @john in 2 weeks." Delivered via a local Chrome notification — no server needed.
On each profile — the drawer
When you open the XMate drawer on an X profile, you get action blocks right there:

Free-form notes and labels to categorize. Entered by you — never auto-enriched.

Set a follow-up reminder straight from the profile, without leaving the page.

Follow-up Nudges
Enable in Settings → Nudges: XMate sends desktop reminders that pull you back to contacts gone cold — with a daily cap and quiet-hours (do-not-disturb) window.
Data Export
Export all your data to JSON/CSV anytime in Settings → Data Export. No lock-in, open format.
Cross-platform
Works on LinkedIn too — save profiles, add notes, and merge touchpoints into the same contact.
